📢 Join us on the 12th of June for the Shaping our Future conference in Utrecht, organized by the Gemeente Utrecht and VNG (Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten), in the run-up to the UN Summit of the Future. In today’s world, the challenges we face as a global community are deeply intertwined with local politics and initiatives. Decisions made at the local level can have profound impact on issues such as climate change, social justice and economic equality. By actively engaging in local politics and community efforts, we can address these challenges collectively and work towards sustainable solutions that benefit us all today, and generations to come. Therefore the Shaping our Future conference is designed for and with youth, with the aim of coming to a set of recommendations and innovative solutions to increase the influence of youth in intergovernmental processes through local governments. These will be conveyed by Mayor Sharon Dijksma of Utrecht during her meeting with UN Secretary General Guterres in July in the framework of an Advisory Group on Local and Regional Governments, in the final stages leading up to the UN Summit of the Future in September. The event will feature plenary sessions and rounds of break-out sessions addressing key themes including: 🌍 Climate resilience and sustainability 🌍 Equal opportunities for all young people 🌍 Education, employment and innovation 🌍 Impact and decision-making 📅 The conference will be held at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht on Wednesday 12 June. We especially ask youth (representatives) and local decision makers to join us as we come together to shape our future. Registration is free of charge. 👇 NJR VNG (Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten) VNG Connect United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) Gemeente Utrecht Sharon Dijksma Pieter Jeroense Renske Steenbergen Matthijs Peters Michelle ter Meer - Buchel Judith Geerling Finn Speulman Kimberley Snijders Lotte Prins Bram Geurds #BuildingBetterFutures #LocalGovernment #ShapingOurFutureConference
